With state-of the-art facilities and excellent support services, the Institute of Applied Technology offers Career-based Technical Education (CTE) in English at the secondary and tertiary levels. In Addition, IAT encompasses well established higher learning programs in aviation, logistics and nursing. The institute has an overall of twenty campuses (eighteen schools, four colleges for Fatma College of Health Sciences and two colleges for Abu Dhabi Polytechnic), located in the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Al Dhafra Region, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah; with its directorate based in Abu Dhabi.
The Institute was founded in 2005 through Royal decree of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Late President of the United Arab Emirates, as a corporate body with full financial and administrative independence.

H.E. Eng. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) in the United Arab Emirates since its inception in 2005. H.E. Al Hammadi began his career with the UAE Armed Forces in 1984 and began pursuit of his post-secondary education in the United States soon thereafter. In 1989 he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.
Policies of the Institute are decided and their accomplishment is overseen by the Board of Trustees whose members are appointed by Royal decree Number 36/2005 of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, Ruler of Abu Dhabi.
The mission of IAT as established by the Royal Decree is to prepare, qualify and train the students of the Institute to earn scientific and technological degrees in the specializations approved by the board of trustees whose members are:
